People often ask us what are the benefits of joining the Belgian Dragon Association. Here is the answer!
WHAT THE BDA DOES FOR MEMBERS:
- International reach via inclusive membership of the International Dragon Association
- A body to regulate Dragon racing in Belgian waters
- A body to run national regattas for Dragon sailors
- A body to represent the interests and opinions of Belgian Dragon sailors to the VYF, IDA and ISAF
- To provide a focus for Dragon activities on and off the water in a well regulated manner
- To actively promote the class in a range of media, maintaining a high level of visibility to a wide audience
- Provision and running various communication channels (web site, facebook, twitter) to keep all members informed on the range of matters the body is responsible for
- Liaise with Dragon builders and suppliers
- To identify and retain suitable sponsors for BDA events
- Maintain a robust financial accounting system
- Maintain a register of all members and boats and allow members access
- Maintain records and archives for future Dragon sailors
- To maintain and record trophies awarded for BDA events
- To run international regattas in Belgian waters on behalf of the IDA (e.g. Gold Cup)
- Provide a forum for member’s opinions to use as and when they see fit
- To organize an annual general meeting (AV) and dinner
- Publish an annual magazine Issue periodic newsletters
- Provide ideas and opinions to progress the cause of Dragon racing in Belgium
- National reach to all Belgian Dragon sailors
- Last but not least, for all new members to the Dragon Class, a godfather will be appointed to guide you through the first year of Dragon sailing.
